SALARY  :  R314 709 per annum
CENTRE  :  Pretoria 
REQUIREMENTS  :  Applicants  must  be  in  possession  of  a  three-year  Bachelor’s  degree  plus  an
Honours degree or a four-year degree with two or more of the following as major
subjects:  Economics,  Agricultural  Economics,  Business  Economics  and/or
Marketing  (you  are  required  to  furnish  a  credit  certificate  and/or  statement  of
results).  Knowledge  of  and  experience  in  South  Africa’s  international/regional
trade relations as well as South Africa’s agriculture, forestry and fisheries policy
and trade policy. Analytical research skills. Knowledge of macro-economic policy
and  its  impact  on  the  agriculture,  forestry  and  fisheries  sectors.  Good
communication (verbal and written), presentation, research and negotiation skills.
Computer skills in MS Office software. A valid driver’s licence.
DUTIES  :  The incumbent will be responsible to monitor and advise on the trade policies of
countries in Europe. Analyse and evaluate developments on bilateral trade policy 4

in  Europe  and  how  they  impact  on  the  South  African  agriculture,  forestry  and
fisheries sectors in order to enhance the global competitiveness of South African
producers  and  products.  Represent  DAFF  on  bilateral  trade  fora.  Interact  with
relevant industries and other stakeholders regarding trade matters with countries
in  Europe.  Monitor  and  advise  on  the  implementation  of  trade  agreements  with
countries in Europe.
