SALARY : R314 709 per annum
CENTRE : Pretoria
REQUIREMENTS : Applicants must be in possession of a three-year Bachelor’s degree plus an
Honours degree or a four-year degree with two or more of the following as major
subjects: Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business Economics and/or
Marketing (you are required to furnish a credit certificate and/or statement of
results). Knowledge of and experience in the field of South Africa’s
international/regional trade relations as well as agriculture, forestry and fisheries
policy and trade policy. Analytical research skills. Knowledge of the macro-
economic policy and its impact on the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors.
Good communication (verbal and written), presentation, research and negotiation
skills. Computer skills in MS Office software. A valid driver’s licence.
DUTIES : The incumbent will be responsible to monitor and advise on trade policies of
countries in America (i.e. South and North) and their impact on the SA agriculture,
forestry and fisheries sectors in order to enhance the global competitiveness of
South African producers and products. Advise on bilateral trade policy related to
the America’s policy. Represent DAFF on bilateral trade fora and/or in
negotiations. Monitor the implementation of trade agreements between SA and
countries in America. Undertake research internally and with contracted
institutions. Interact with the agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries on trade
matters emanating from the countries in America.
