VACANCY CIRCULAR REF. NUMBER (MURCH 67/2014) HOSPITAL BOARD MEMBERS (8 POSTS)

Minimum Requirements:
Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
Any person of good standing in the community
Person not employed by the Department of Health, KZN
Person not receiving remuneration from the Department of Health, KZN
Person with Legal, religious and health background highly recommended
Youth and disabled persons are equally recommended
Members must be residing around Murchison, Bhobhoyi, Izingolweni sub districts.

Key Performance Areas:
To become and remain acquainted with the operations of the hospital, services of the institution for which such a board is constituted.
To act as a channel of communication between management and local community and liaise with other organizations with a view to assisting patients and staff in arrears of special needs.
To advise administration on matters generally affecting the conduct and management of the hospital, services or institution for which such board is constituted.
To concern itself with general aspects of staffing and other matters of overall interest in the staffing field, but
excluding matters relating to particular staff members, such as individual appointments, promotions, personal merits, demerits.
To make recommendations to management regarding the purpose for any fixed or movable property bequeathed in the hospital, services or institution concerned should be used.
To report any maladministration of a hospital to the responsible Member of the Executive Council.
To ensure that no members shall vote upon or take part or be present during discussion of any matter before the board in which he/she has directly and pecuniary interest.
To ensure that all matters deliberated at the committee meeting shall be treated with confidentiality.
To make recommendations to the MEC for health of HOD as the case may be.
Raising additional funds for the hospital, specifying the manner in which the funds are utilized and ensuring that
the annual reports are submitted to the Department detailing the manner in which the funds were spent.
Ensure proper utilization of funds raised.
Conduct regular inspections at the hospital.
Perform the functions and carry out any other duty imposed by any other law.
